Youth Group News

Have you heard the new definition of the word, “loser?” Well, according to Rabbi Symons, a “loser” is someone who is sitting in school (or anywhere else) while the rabbi is playing Air Hockey, Galaga, and/or Ms. Pacman in our brand-spankin’-new youth lounge.

That’s right, in case you haven’t heard; the newest cool place to be (maybe even cooler than Upstreet) is Temple Sinai’s Youth Lounge. So on Monday nights starting at 5:30, come check out your new youth lounge. We’ll have pizza, music, games, and good company.

Among the good company will be your Pittsburgh Area Reform Temple Youth (PARTY) members. Feeling shy?

I’ll introduce you to them now and tell you a little bit about what they do. Sarah May Stein is our Programming Vice President. She’s in charge of creating and coordinating all of the fun programs that PARTY has. Our Social Action Vice President, Gayle Forman, makes sure that PARTY is contributing to our community and other communities around the world while having a blast. Natalie Shribman is our star Religious and Cultural Vice President. She keeps us kosher. Actually, she maintains our connection to Israel and the more religious aspect of having fun with your Temple Sinai friends. Our Membership Vice President, Leah Dawson, is the woman in charge of finding and keeping new members (she’s looking for you. So come next time, PLEASE). Our Vice President of Communications is Miss Ana Shapiro, who takes amazing minutes. PLUS...every aesthetically pleasing flyer that PARTY has churned out this year has been the handiwork of our talented Ana. Matt Mahan is our resident math whiz, which is to say he is our Fundraising (financial?) Vice President, in charge of all fundraising events and financial planning. Natalie Mormer and Ben Wahlberg round out our all-star board as 9th and 10th grade representatives, respectively.

Now that you’ve had a little introduction from me, we would like to get to know you. So, let’s play some Galaga, PlayStation or Air Hockey while Rabbi Symons is sitting in his office, working. Then we might find out the very newest definition of the word “loser.”

Beth Mormer, President
