High Holiday Services for 2008 / 5769

Selichot Program and Service

Saturday, September 20, 9:00 PM
We gather for Selichot, the late night service, the Saturday preceding Rosh Hashana. Selichot is the gateway to the New Year, the time when we prepare ourselves spiritually for the joy and self-examination of the High Holidays. It is also the time when Jews ask themselves whether they met the responsibilities of the year that is ending.

Please join us for a musical program featuring Rabbi Gibson, Sara Stock Mayo, Julie Newman and Rabbi Ende, "Return Again: Songs of the Season," which will include familiar melodies and original works by Julie Newman. The musical program will be followed by refreshments, the beautiful Selichot Service and the sounding of the Shofar as we usher in the High Holiday season.

Memorial Park Service

Sunday, September 21, 11:00 AM
In keeping with Jewish tradition, Rabbi Gibson will conduct the annual Service of Remembrance at Temple Sinai Memorial Park. Chairs will be provided for the comfort of all visitors, and a tent will offer protection from the elements. Flowers for the gravesite may be ordered from a florist of your choosing, if you so desire. Please be sure your florist has the specific location of the grave site for delivery to the Memorial Park. Those requiring transportation should call the Temple office, 412-421-9715, no later than September 15 to arrange for a ride.
