Shabbat Services

Mostly Musical Shabbat: First Fridays at 7 PM

Join Cantorial Soloist Sara Stock Mayo and the Temple Sinai Band for Mostly Musical Shabbat the First Friday of every month.

There is no Torah service during Mostly Musical Shabbat, so the service is a bit shorter. The music is informal and lively. Come prepared to sing along, and maybe even dance a bit.

Summer Shabbat Evening Service: Fridays at 7 PM

All Shabbat Evening Services will be held at 7:00 PM throughout July-September 2008. Most evening services include a Torah Service and sermon or guest speaker.

The First Friday of every month we will continue to offer our Mostly Musical Shabbat service.

Featured music or speakers are announced in advance in the Temple Bulletin and on the Temple website (see Home page or Calendar).

You are welcome to come early, spread out a blanket and eat a picnic dinner on our lawn before the service.

Tot Shabbat (a monthly family service for preschool children): Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM

Tot Shabbat is a special service for our youngest members (newborn to age 5) and their parents, grandparents and friends. This special service has lots of singing and stories. Look for Tot Shabbat on Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM. In February come for our annual Tot Shabbat Havdalah, the service that separates Shabbat from the rest of the week, on Saturday evening at 5:00 PM.

Family Service: Saturday at 9:30 AM

Saturday morning t’fillot for grades 4 through 7 once a month from 9:30 to 10:40 AM in the Falk Library. Families have the opportunity to come together for services and some age-appropriate discussion. It’s a nice way to begin the day. The dress is casual, the mood is relaxed.

B'nai Mitzvah: Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM, as scheduled. See Calendar.

Weekday Services

Healing Service (a monthly service) Wednesday at 1:00 PM

“We start and end our healing service with song. Whether we choose to sing or listen, let us be aware of the deepening of our breath, the opening of our lungs, and the softening of our hearts…”

So begins our once-a-month Healing Service at Temple Sinai, open to all of our members. We meet in a circle in the Rogaliner Lounge the first Wednesday of every month at 1:00 PM, unless otherwise noted. Co-led by Rabbi Gibson and congregant Sandy Fox, the service provides a gentle oasis to tend to our need for healing and/or spiritual growth within the context of a supportive community.

We invite you to join us, whether it’s once, as needed, or every month. If you have additional questions, please feel free to call Rabbi Gibson or Sandy Fox.

Thursday Evening Service: Thursdays at 7:30 PM

A mincha and ma'ariv (afternoon and evening) service for weekdays in the Barnett Chapel. Join us as we add weekday prayer to our Shabbat and holiday services. Whether you are saying Kaddish for a loved one or simply want to go home spiritually refreshed, this brief service offers the chance to pray and sing together.
