Rosh Chodesh Group (Kislev)

Our Rosh Chodesh group has been meeting for 15 years in members’ homes with a mix of “founding” and newer members. We open each meeting with an introductory poem or reading, blessings for candle-lighting and wine, a summary of the month’s holidays and historic events that occurred during the month, and the bio of an interesting woman who died during the month. Then we get to know each other through introductions and move on to a presentation or discussion. For the past four years we’ve read and discussed short stories written by Jewish women in America, Israel and Latin America.

Rosh Chodesh Kislev: Tuesday, November 28, 2017, 7:30 PM
Louise Aronson, “Twenty-five Things I Know About My Husband’s Mother” and “Soup or Sex?” in A History of the Present Illness, 2013, pp. 101-105, 107-114
The first story presents a short but very moving daughter-in-law’s view of her Indian mother-in-law; the second focuses on the same narrator, who is an Indian-American doctor.

Host: Susan Cohen
Discussion Leader: Elizabeth Gordon

Contact: Lynn Magid Lazar for stories, PDF's and address of the meeting.
