"THE ARTS KNOW NO BOUNDARIES: A PANEL DISCUSSION"

Join WoTS and Brotherhood for a brunch and discussion about living a creative life while living with a disability. Expect to hear how a person's disability can enhance their artwork. Their stories may even inspire you to add more creativity to your life.

ABOUT OUR PANELISTS

  • Anne Alter, Eli Kurs-Lasky, and Kara Snyder, members of theTemple Sinai community who produce various forms of art while having disabilities, will explain how art enhances their lives and how their disabilities impact their art.
  • Flavio Chamis, a composer, conductor, and teacher who studied under Leonard Bernstein, will discuss his experiences helping individuals with disabilities gain fulfillment through music.
  • Lindsey Kaine, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater's (PBT's) Associate Director of Education and Accessibility, will explain how PBT accommodates persons with disabilities so they may access the organization's programming.
  • Lynn Rubenson, WoTS President, will serve as moderator.If you plan to attend virtually the Zoom link will be emailed to you closer to the event date.

Cost: $10 brunch & discussion no later than Wednesday, Feb. 7 ($18 at the door)/$5 watch on Zoom

MORE ABOUT OUR PANEL
Anne Alter sings in the rock band Infinity, whose members have schizophrenia. Infinity was formed by Flavio Chamis at UPMC Western Behavioral Health and has performed at conferences and parties in the Pittsburgh area. Eli Kurs-Lasky is a photographer and writer who was diagnosed with autism in his 20s. He graduated from Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and from the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied English writing and sociology. Kara Snyder is a visually impaired expressionist painter who primarily works in an abstract style. Lindsey Kaine helps to make Pittsburgh Ballet Theater accessible to all.
