Come learn the basics of sourdough bread from Chloe Newman, founder and head baker of Crust Worthy.
Intro to Sourdough Workshop for 5th through 12th graders:
This two-hour workshop will teach participants the basics of baking with sourdough to make beautiful and delicious bread. We will go over the mixing, shaping, and baking of a naturally-leavened wheat loaf, along with sourdough starter care and maintenance. This workshop will include a tasting of a finished loaf, as well as the opportunity for participants to take home dough (to bake later) and a sourdough starter.
12–1 PM Pizza Lunch
1–3 PM Baking!

Chloe J. Newman is the owner, founder, and head baker of Crust Worthy LLC. Crust Worthy is a small-scale, community-supported artisan baking operation that uses wholesome ingredients, natural-leavening, and slow-fermentation methods to provide delicious, nutritious, and uniquely beautiful sourdough breads and baked goods to Pittsburgh customers. Crust Worthy baking can be found at local farmers markets from May through November and at select small businesses throughout the year.
