Shabbat Services

Leebov Sanctuary ServicesShabbat at Temple Sinai is a unique and meaningful experience. Our Sanctuary fills on Friday evenings as the congregation and our welcome visitors join in worship and song. Over the course of the month, on each Friday evening at 7 PM, we offer a different Shabbat experience: from our  choir and band's participation, to having parts of the service led by our children. A smaller group on Saturday mornings provides a more intimate and participatory worship setting, and often there is a second Shabbat morning service in the Sanctuary to learn and celebrate with our B’nei Mitzvah families. Read more about our other service offerings below.

Fridays at Temple Sinai

Tot Shabbat

On third Fridays enjoy a combination of music, movement and learning, offering young children a Shabbat experience through age-appropriate songs and prayers. All are welcome, if your child is under six, we kindly ask that parents or caregivers accompany them. Learn more…

Mostly Musical Shabbat: A Sensory Friendly Experience

Join us on first Fridays to sing, dance and make some noise with the Temple Sinai Band! Not into noise? Join the youth group for quieter Shabbat activities in a separate space with the services livestreamed into the room. For more information or accommodation call Drew Barkley at (412) 421-9715 ext. 111. All are welcome!

Saturdays at Temple Sinai

Torah Study

Every Saturday at 8:15 AM, both novice and advanced students of Torah will enjoy this Shabbat morning study. Experience lively discussion with a community of passionate students. Drop in any week! This class is a part of our Adult Education programming, learn more about continued learning.

Informal Shabbat Minyan

The Informal Shabbat Minyan meets weekly in the Barnett Chapel to celebrate Shabbat with joyous song. Usually led by Rabbi Daniel Fellman and Cantor David Reinwald on guitar, this friendly minyan values participatory prayer (all singing abilities welcome!) and most often has lay leaders for the Torah service. Please join us any week, to sing, pray, and get to know your fellow congregants.
