IS YOUR KUGEL THE BEST? PROVE IT!
Every family has a special kugel recipe, often handed down through several generations. After all, what Jewish cook doesn’t make a kugel for a holiday meal or at least Shabbat dinner? And how many times have you heard a person declare, “Oh, I have the best recipe for noodle kugel—after all, it was my mother’s/grandmother’s/aunt's, etc."
Now is your chance to earn bragging rights for your recipe. Bring your best kugel to Temple Sinai and compete against your fellow congregants!
What is a kugel? Is it an entree or a dessert? Is it sweet or savory? There are so many varieties of kugels. At its heart it is just a baked casserole composed of starch (typically noodles or potato), eggs, and fat. It comes from Germany. Learn about the history of kugel.
How to participate: Sign up below to be a contestant! Bake your kugel at home in at least a 9" x 13" dish. It can be reheated in our Katzen Kitchen.
Don't want to cook, just eat?: Great! Register below for $8 per person to attend the competition, taste the kugels, vote for your favorite, and enjoy a nosh of bagels and schmears.
Judges: Private chef Adam Lemieux and Food for Thought's Bobby Wasserman will sample and choose our top winners. We'll also have a People's Pick.
Cost: $8 per attendee (All ages welcome!)
